Drushti Abhiyan : One step for Eye Health, Beautiful, Bright Future..!

India has the largest blind population in the world. Cataracts are the main cause of blindness in most cases. A cataract is a visual impairment that can be cured with treatment and surgery. But even today it is neglected especially in rural areas. Hundreds of eye disorders can be cured with simple glasses. Mainly due to a lack of awareness about eye health and apathy towards treatment, lakhs of people in India still suffer from blindness.

To address this pressing need, we have initiated promoting health awareness in rural areas through routine check-ups, emergency health services, and free camps on various health-related issues. Our focus is on providing essential health services to vulnerable groups, including the blind, senior citizens, and those with cancer. We believe that by working together and promoting health observance, we can raise awareness about various illnesses, diseases, and other important health-related topics and help to prevent needless deaths and suffering.

Cataracts and similar eye disorders are increasing due to various reasons. According to government statistics, 62.6% of the total blindness in India is due to cataracts and due to lack of timely surgery.

The main objective of the campaign –

We are starting the 'Drushti Abhiyan' with the idea of 'Better eye health for all'. The work of the Akka Foundation continues with the feeling that the people of Nilanga Constituency should get all kinds of health facilities and the citizens of this constituency are members of our family.

2. Surgery for those who need cataract surgery.
3. Also post-surgery medication and follow-up.
4. Checking the eyes of the citizens and distributing glasses if they need them.
5. To create awareness about eye health among the citizens of our area.
6. Taking preventive measures to prevent blindness in elderly patients.
7. To provide a home transport facility for treatment to the patients who cannot come to the camp.
8. Making the most of technology for eye screening to benefit as many people as possible.
9. As part of this whole system strengthening, all concerned – government departments, hospitals and local authorities will be oriented and sensitized towards developing a comprehensive plan.

Our team is dedicated to promoting health awareness and providing essential health services to those in need. We believe that working together can create a healthier future for all, especially for the poor children who find it challenging to manage and survive in rural areas. We remain committed to our mission and invite others to join us in our efforts to promote health observance, prevent illness and disease, and improve the health and well-being of people in rural India.
